WHY REPETITION IS IMPORTANT

I want to talk about repetition because repetition is so important to this practice. Repetition by its nature is that something is repeated over and over and over again.
When you repeat something over and over and over again, that's when you get your insights. Because it's not just the repetition. It's the spherical nature of time — and time is spherical.
So, let me say it this way. We work with three of some of the major principles of Taoism.
The first principle is yin and yang and how yin has yang in it, and yang has yin in it. But the goal is: how you mediate how much yin to how much yang; how much hot to how much cold; how much up to how much down. To understand that you are, the mediator, the middle of it, the manipulator, that you are the center of all of it — which also implies round.
The second principle is that the intelligence of nature is found in its patterns. The pattern in a season, the pattern in wood, the pattern in Jade, the pattern in your period, the pattern in a week. So keep knowing that there's all sorts of patterns that we can follow that are inherently round.
The third principle is that in the repetition of pattern, the more you repeat it, the more you develop the capacity to have the insight. To learn a technique. to master something. As Malcolm Gladwell says, it takes 10,000 hours to really master something. That is a lot of time and time is spherical, and this is a practice.
The very notion of practice implies repetition, time, a revolution, or revelation so that you have an evolution, meaning: you change.
