TAKING A JOYRIDE: EXPLORING THE GLANDULAR SYSTEM
with Chase Connolly

Friday, June 19th (2pm-4pm)
Price: $30

In any practice the first question a student has is "what am I being asked to do?" Once we have an understanding of how to put our bodies into specific shapes, to move closer and closer to an archetype by informing the organic material of the body with consistent pattern, we can then look at how these shapes are changing the body in increasingly subtle ways. One of which is the endocrine system. The reason we are so specific with setting up a good structure, is so that we have a good container, which frees us from muscular effort and enables us to participate in practices that change our endocrine system.

The endocrine system is made up of glands that produce hormones that regulate all of the other organ function in the body. In this workshop we will discuss how we speak to the glands in Katonah Yoga by learning the metaphor of the body as a car. We will explore, not only of the esoteric implications of each gland, but also their chemical processes. We will go through a pranayama practice specifically designed to regulate the function of each gland through the archetype of structure and breath pattern. These exercises help to develop techniques to align us with the intelligence of Great Nature, to clear the way for more optimal function while allowing a sensate experience of each gland. Lastly, we will look at the glands within the context of the five elemental theory and how we can conceptualize them within the macrocosm of Great Nature.
