“I have known Master Hou for 20 years. He has brought me back twice from illnesses when I had no idea how or why I had fallen ill. As a bone setter I met him first when I broke my foot and he "reset" my bone over several painful sessions. I have trusted him as my main medical practitioner and purveyor of information that I have used in my personal and professional life for these two decades. His knowledge of internal and external forces is vast and imaginative and I am eager to share with you some of his wisdom and practices.” - Abbie

Fasting is the world's most ancient and natural healing mechanism. All animals, except man, fast instinctively when sick. To purify the body and clarify the mind is what all therapeutic practices aim for. The ancient Greeks fasted for health and longevity, and were known for their robust physical health. Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, prescribed and practiced fasting for all serious ailments and preventative protocols. Fasting triggers a wondrous cleansing process reaching down into every cell and tissue in the body. Within 24 hours of curtailing routine food intake, enzymes stop entering the stomach and travel instead into the intestines and the bloodstream, where they circulate and gobble up all sorts of waste matter including dead and damage cells, unwelcome microbes, metabolic waste and pollutants.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, longevity is directly affected by what we eat. Many conditions can be improved by choosing the right things to eat. All food has therapeutic properties, some being more yin in quality and some being more yang. When we eat food, we are linked with the elements of the outside world. For optimal health, meals should be varied and balanced according to the changes of time and season as well as the taste and nature of foods. If we are struck ill, it is the result of an imbalance in our bodies. By readjusting the relationship between the organs, through what we eat, we can restore balance and good health.

Join Abbie and Master Hou for an exploration of fasting and nutrition. They will discuss the what, why and how of eating and fasting for health, vitality, organ function and blood cleansing.
