WHAT DREW YOU TO KATONAH YOGA?
From the first class I took I knew I had found something that would alter my life. The first time I was adjusted, Abbie smiled at me as she helped me bring my lungs forward in an upward facing dog. I fell into and understood my body in a new way that exposed my personal investments and patterns. The theory that was relayed in class resonated with me in a pragmatic yet inspired way. I left with a spark in my imagination and a new understanding of my legs; I knew I had to come back for more.
HOW HAS KATONAH CHANGED YOUR PRACTICE & TEACHING?
Katonah Yoga has fully changed how I understand embodiment. As a student I continuously discover new pathways in my body that lead me to new insights, both about my body and my everyday life. The practice has given me a new language to articulate my boundaries and advocate for myself. Teaching this material has instilled vision in me. I have learned the beauty of measuring up over and over again, how to make contact with confidence and how to really see people.
HOW HAVE YOU SEEN KATONAH CHANGE STUDENTS?
I have seen students come in hardly able to move their pelvis transform into someone who can fold and spin and become spherical over time, through repetition. I have witnessed students who were cautious and inhibited develop new patterns to inhabit their bodies with more self-assurance. I have heard people leave class shocked that they were leaving pain free - the potency of this practice can be felt after just one class!
“Come for the rigor and the adjustments, stay for the life changing information and insights.”
