Home practice is a progressive technique for self-knowledge and personal change. The physical practice improves over time, as our consciousness expands. A gateway to our interior life, a home practice opens up new emotional and physical vistas in order to deepen our resiliency, ground our nervous system and clarify our perceptual reality.



Join us this summer to create a new home practice, refine the one you already have or restart a stalled effort. We will supply the techniques, theory, frames and formulas from which to develop and design your own masterpiece.


THE WHY AND THE HOW (Tuesday July 2nd)

A home practice is a vehicle for self cultivation, using the body as an access point for imagination, emotional stamina and mental presence, contained within our embodiment. Our first session introduces the theory behind a home practice and outlines a how-to for initiating it practically.

ARCHETYPAL POSES (Tuesday July 9th)

The forms of our yoga poses are the building blocks of the practice. In this session we review the archetypal poses that make up a home practice. Moving from the personal to the archetypal forms of the poses is the route to personal development and evolution. This shift from habitual to formal refines one's practice.

INCORPORATING PROPS (Tuesday July 16th)

The physical practice is a structural effort towards stability and can be deepened by the use of props as scaffolding. In this session we review various props set ups that can support us in relinquishing the doing aspect of the practice, transforming the whole endeavor into a practice of being.

MAKING IT DYNAMIC (Tuesday July 23rd)

As we progress in time and duration through our home practice we can create a more dynamic experience through the use of refined folds within joint space, in order to initiate more currency moving through our containment and the addition of more challenging poses with a slower rhythm of breath, allowing us to live more fully in the present.

TIME MANAGEMENT (Tuesday July 30th)

Home practice offers us the opportunity to cultivate time as our ally. This session explores how to refine our physical technique over time, with the same set of poses, daily, creating new pathways of neural connections to facilitate a more conscious internal dialogue with oneself and to infuse our daily routine with a dose of health inducing habits.

MIND MANAGEMENT (Tuesday August 6th)

Getting to the mat, moving through a sequence, engaging the breath and doing it daily, can be laborious, burdensome and emotionally confronting, but if we find a way to stay the course, the emotional, spiritual and physical rewards are himalayan. In this session we investigate procrastination, justifications, resistances, excuses, even quitting as part and parcel of any heroic journey.

REFINING TECHNIQUE (Tuesday August 13th)

The deeper we inhabit a pose, the greater chance we have of letting go of the muscularity of effort in order to move into the fluency of our imaginations. In this session we workshop the poses in their detailed demands, considering self adjustments, variations, a change of angle, the use of props in order to offer us greater facility in our practice.

INTEGRATING THE BREATH (Tuesday August 20th)

The body is the template on which our practice happens, but the breath is the portal through which we develop our creativity and imagination. Riding the breath deep inside ourselves is what constructs our home practice into a sanctuary of thought, insight and self-soothing, taking it from a mere physical experience to a true meditation.

CREATING YOUR OWN PRACTICE (Tuesday August 27th)

By this time each of us will have developed a sense of what we need, what we aspire to and what our daily lives demand from our embodiment. This session will culminate in the creation of our personal home practices, as we work communally to put it all together, share our results, exchange ideas and consider how to maintain our efforts.
